absolutely, in the positive sense. without a doubt it s better than my sigma11. it powers both avdd and dvdd(digital and analog supplies). however, i m wondering how good is SS1.2 at supplying the digital portion...

I have Googled and found a sigma11 by AMB laboratories. If you are referring to that one, its a serous power supply. Has extensive technical documentation. You had no slouch of a reg before.

yeah i ve built a couple of the sigma family psus because it performs great, has great current capability, i can switch voltages from 36v to 5v when used with sockets, and finally because the designer offers great support and isnt after money.

i was wondering about the powering digital circuitry because i tried the ikoflexer-stormsonic 3.3v reg (http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/powe...ake-discrete-shunt-voltage-regulator-114.html) with for a clock and a receiver chip (just to see) and didnt get good results at all. i guess thats what happen when you use circuits not for the purpose it what intended to be used for.

i just wish a 3.3v SS1.2 could be made. i know someone earlier said he was going to experiment on this (fred?). maybe he could join in?

This surprises me. Something must have been wrong with the construction I think. I never built that circuit but it looked pretty good on paper and stormsonic had good results. What were the negatives?

with the clock i was hearing weird kind of echoes and for the receiver nothing was wrong but the performance was clearly better with the sigma or flea. i ve checked my wiring and everything seems fine. i m using bc560c for bc857, 2sk170bl for jbf862 and a mpsa18 for bfr92p. also i omitted c3. anyway, i ll do more testing.

on a side note: on SS1.2, i bypassed c2(vishay mkt but still) with a ft-3 russian teflon cap and the result TO MY EARS are quite stunning. now i dont know how it measure. but to me clearly it sounds quite a bit better. maybe it s not the right way to proceed but it might just be that the benefits that this cap brings outweight the drawbacks.
