But aren't those Karlsons?
Y'know "tapped horns" look a bit more like Karlson enclosures each time I think about them. And the underlying theory is just as coherent.
What is the lowest frequency you are looking to cover?
Knowing will help as a basis to the design.
frequency range 80hz to 300hz
But aren't those Karlsons?
Not really, though they can be approximated using T-TQWT theory, ie. instead of a series of resonant chambers folded back on itself, a reverse tapered TL can be substituted. Bottom line, all these different alignments are limited BW band-pass alignments.

Hi soundhead,
Imo, The only way to reach 300 Hz is by using a very constricted throat, not Rek., or by Eq a couple of dB:s..

Can tapped horn play midbass
Well, on paper it can, but without building one I don't know if its minor 'ringing' would be audible/obnoxious:

I have two selenium 15sws800 i would like to build two midbass tapped horn for, with some help
Missed this, so I agree with bjorno.

Yes I wil be saying Eq
Then all else equal, you'll need a smaller driver with a higher power handling/Xmax to offset its lack of piston area (Sd) in a Prof. Leach derived alignment. Sadly, if I posted its design details, there's folks that would do their damnedest to immorally profit from such knowledge, so for a variety of personal reasons I posted it only to prove at least in a sim that's it's probably a viable alignment for folks to pursue on their own.

here's a thread with 12PS100 discussed in a tapped horn

Can this B&C 12ps100
The compression ratio is way too high among other things. It sims good for this app in a FLH that's not a lot bigger than the TH, so I recommend using HR's System Designer to calc one that I believe will perform better overall and why I can't get all that enthused about using THs for > ~160 Hz once the XO's HF BW is factored in.

So how *big* is it? (Just overall cubic footage is ok). I've gotten similar passbands out of standard front loaded - I just was curious if there was a size advantage to a tapped horn here.
