Effciency Bandwidth Product[EBP] what does it mean?

But I heard someone saying for horn loading you need over 130 EBP?

The Eminence Sigma pro 18 650w rms, has an EPB of 95 and the Eminence Delta 10 350w rms has an EBP of 189.
So people say the higher EPB is better for horn use.Why is it better? And is the Eminence Sigma pro 18 suited for horn use at all,or just bass reflex only?

The reason I'm asking this is before I commence on making a pair of 18 inch folded horns for my live pa,I want to know if the Eminence sigma pro 0r Eminence Omega pro is suitable for horn use?:bawling: :confused:

It's better understood by seeing how it's caluclated: fs/Qes.

Gives an idea of how a woofer is controlled. Consensus is < 50 is usually good for sealed and > 50 suited to ported enclosures. I can't comment on horns, but seems like that comment was made on the requirement of a high control ratio i.e. ability to control the driver without aid from the enclosure. Remember it's just a guideline though.

I have a pair of Celestion AD12's with an EBP of 215.8. It has a very low qes and is very much suited for vented, or even in free air apparently.
 
When you get a woofer with a low Qes you usually end up with one that is deficient in the bass. The great thing is that in a horn you gain greater control by a strong motor assemly. It helps in keeping the woofer from flapping around to much. All this is the case above the cut off of the horn. Below that you end up with a flapper just as you do in a vented box trying to play below the port tuning frequency.
