Hi everybody,
IE's phishing filter popped up this warning to me. I am sure people here would like to know.

I took a screen shot and is enclosed.

Mods, this maybe the wrong place for this, please move the thread appropriately.

Regards,
Dinesh

HBarske, ZM,
Instead of calling IE BS, let's try and find out why this is happening. Maybe the site was/has been hacked. Wouldn't you rather find that out?

Regards,
Dinesh

fortunately - fact that IE is BS is much more likely , than even slightest sign of this site dangerousness .

this is one of most frequent sites I know , and my PC is here either entire day or better part of it .
I'm using FF and KAV antivirii , and I never had any alarm from any antivirii/malware protection tool .

on the other hand ,as I'm working with Windblows Drek as part of my job , I'm pretty aware how big drek is in question

be happy - Diyaudio is well , IE isn't ....

I have a little program that shows me all requests for connection and holds for my approval. Yesterday when I was navving to the forum two unrelated sites were getting involved. This was the first time these sites had tried to connect through diyAudio. It was easy enough to hit the deny button but it was curious none the less.

It seems to be happening more and more these days. Google has all these little services that keep trying to do stuff when on completely unrelated sites. Yesterday and today, some BBC thing keeps wanting to connect , again when going into sites that are unrelated. And the little tracking things are really getting out of hand . . . . . .

I think a while back someone reported that a site that someone had posted a link to a site that had a virus on it. It is quite possible that this is what the "links to sites with viruses" is about. That link was quickly removed by the moderators, but probably got covertly reported to microsoft, who then added it to their database. how long it will take to be removed (or whether they even have the facility to allow this) is anyones guess.

As suggested download firefox, and you won't look back :)

I believe the IE phishing filter is actually based on a database maintained somewhere on a Microsoft server. Potentially in some corporate environments this could mean diyaudio.com might be blocked as unsafe depending on where else that database is employed. (or if IT remote management policies on IE only equipped machines were set to prevent access to "unsafe" sites)

Probably would be a good idea if the webmaster investigated further to find out how the site got on that list in the first place.

IE is not detecting anything - it is simply contacting a Microsoft server about the particular URL it is being directed to connect to.

And it may be unrealistic to tell people to dump IE particularly where they may have no control over the browser they use. My workplace is strictly IE only and installation of FF is blocked by policy and is almost impossible to circumvent. At home I choose to use Linux and FF, but at work I have no choice. (I was allowed to turn off the anti-phishing filter fortunately.)

Thanks for the report. The site is fine. I'll try to find out what's going on with M$.

From: https://phishingfilter.microsoft.com/PhishingFilterFaq.aspx it looks like the only way to get a site OUT of the phishing filter is for you to choose the "I don’t think this is a phishing Website" option. So, please do that :) Everyone, please do that :)

Anyone who has a personal grudge against diyAudio can go and report it as being a phishing website, so it takes the balance of karma and people reporting it as not being a phishing website to get it back in the IE good books.

Warning this may be more detail than you care for. The first tip works for each individual user, the other three tips address dealing with the situation in more general terms:

Q. Can I customize a list of trusted sites for SmartScreen filter in Internet Explorer 8?
A.As an Enterprise administrator or an individual user, you can add your own list of trusted sites for your company or yourself and then turn SmartScreen filter off for the Trusted Sites zone.
From the Internet Explorer Tools menu, click Internet Options.
In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Security tab.
Click the Trusted sites icon, and then click the Sites button.
In the Trusted sites dialog box, enter the website URL in the Add this website to the zone box, and then click Add. Close the box.
Click Custom level... and select Disable under Use SmartScreen filter. You may have to scroll through several items.
Click OK.
Click Yes on the pop-up message.
Click OK.

Q. How are false warnings or blocks handled?
A.Our goal is to minimize false warnings or blocks. In the extremely rare case of a false warning or block, we offer a web-based feedback system to help users and website owners report any errors as quickly as possible. These reports are verified by our support team and mistakes are corrected.

Q. If I am a website owner, how do I correct a warning or a block on my legitimate site?
A.You can immediately submit a request for a correction. SmartScreen filter has a built-in, web-based feedback system in place to help customers and website owners report any potential false warnings or blocks as quickly as possible. In Windows Internet Explorer 8, from a red warning, click More information then Report that this site contains no threats. This will take you to a feedback page where you can indicate you are a site owner or representative. Follow the instructions and provide the information on this site to submit a site for review.

Once a dispute is submitted, a team of graders inspects the site in question. All disputes should be submitted through the website reporting process to ensure the quickest resolution.

Q. If I am a website owner, what can I do to help minimize the chance of my website being flagged by SmartScreen filter?
A.There are several things you can do that can help minimize the chance of your site being flagged as suspicious. Think of these as best practices or optimal website design ethics.
If you ask users for personal information, use HTTPS with a valid, unexpired server certificate issued by a trusted certification authority.
Make sure that your webpage doesn't expose any cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities. Protect your site by using anti-cross-site scripting functions such as those provided by the Microsoft Anti-Cross Site Scripting library.
Use the fully-qualified domain name rather than an IP-literal address. (This means a URL should look like "microsoft.com" and not "207.46.19.30.")
Don't encode or tunnel your URLs unnecessarily. If you don't know what this means, you probably aren't doing it.
If you post external or third-party hosted content, make sure that the content is secure and from a known and trusted source.

For people wondering how to that, here is what the link Jason presented says:

One of the sites I visit is being flagged by SmartScreen filter, but it's not an unsafe website. What can I do?
A.From the warning, you can choose to report this site as a safe site. Click the link for More information then click Report that this site does not contain threats. Follow the instructions on the feedback site to complete this process.

Maybe I'm stoopid or just a Microshaft sucker, but this computer is running 64 bit Vista Ultimate, using Misrosoft "One Care" anti virus, and IE8. I often leave my computer sitting on this site for the entire day (like today) even if I am not in the room. I have never received a warning about this site or had any issues with it.
