So here is the kit that I currently have and what I want to build.

I have a Adire 15" DVC Tempest sub and a high quality stereo 500 watt amplifier that is stable into a 2,4 or 8 load.

I would like to take advantage of the large x-max of the tempest and all of the power that I have to build a sealed Linkwitz transform sub.

My question is two fold.
1. Has anyone used the Marchand electric Bassis equalizer? http://www.marchandelec.com/wm8.html
I already have an appropriate power supply and other associate parts so I would only have to buy two boards with parts kits for $70ea and their nice cabinet for $60 for a total of $200. Any opinions on an alternative adjustable lilnkwitz transform/sub preamp option?

2. Since I have two good channels of amplification should I use a stereo signal from my main preamp and run each channel into a separate L/T preamp channel and then connect each channel of amplification into each voice coil? Each VC is 4 ohm, so I would have 500watts into each voice coil.

The constraints that I have are an electronics budget of $200 +/- $50 for the preamp.

I would appreciate any concerns or ideas that any of you have!!
cheers
Nate

Well I'm not nessicarilly saying you should only use one channel of the amp. I'm just saying that the imput to the amplifier need not be stereo(two channels). You can use two channels of the amplifier if you like, but feed them both the same imput from a single LT/eq/preamp. You will probably be afforded a little more amplfier headroom this way and the extra power might come in handy as well.

This will save you money since you wont need two preamps with LT and EQ.
